The Club

The club house is situated on the Gordon Promenade next to the swings. The new rowing club was rebuilt during 1990 and reopened 1991 by the Mayor of Gravesham. A considerable amount of effort during the rebuilding work was put in by club members. The hired builders provided the foundations, outer walls and roof. The club members built the inner walls, bar and boat racking.Non members (who we wish to thank) also helped with the work providing services free of charge or at very low rates. The two ridges to the right contain all the clubs boats and land training equipment. The two ridges to the left contain the male and female changing rooms/toilets, kitchen, function room and well stocked bar .The function room is large enough to seat 60 people comfortably for a dinner function.

Here is an article published in the 1991 Rowing Almanac about the building of the new clubouse.

The club runs social functions such as Bar-B-Qs, discos, and dinners to raise money for the upkeep of the club and replacement of club equipment .

Throughout the year the club holds scratch racing in various boats including Restricted Fours (particularly in the winter when the water is rough), Tub Pairs for the youngsters and novices, and singles.
